We welcome pharmacist Joel Fanuel

As ever, I hope you are keeping well and safe.

The Medical Prime team and I are here to support you as much as we can in these challenging times. As part of our commitment to quality services, we are always looking at how to bring further expertise to your care.

We are very happy therefore to welcome Joel Fanuel, an experienced practicing Pharmacist, to our team. Joel holds degrees from the University of Leeds and King’s College London, and he is finishing a Postgraduate Certificate in clinical pharmacy practice from the University of Bath. In addition, Joel has just started working towards an independent prescriber (IP) qualification under the University of Cumbria.

I am really pleased that the University has approved Medical Prime for Joel’s clinical placement and particularly excited that his ‘clinical’ interest centres on women’s health with focus on the perimenopause, menopause and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Joel is a member of the International Menopause Society and frequently keeps up to date with their training and research. In line with our values, Joel recognises the importance of listening carefully and will ensure you continue to receive the best quality care using holistic, integrated and evidence-based practice.

Joel will be involved with medication reviews, prescription queries and repeat prescriptions. With your consent, he will observe consultations and undertake some himself. He will be attached to the clinic under my supervision over the next six months.

We are very proud to have such a scheme in place as there is only a handful of Pharmacist Prescribers with an interest in women’s health in the UK. The team and I are passionate about new ways of working and supporting the work of universities. We are already involved with inputs to Imperial College London and King’s College London, so I am very pleased that we are now engaging with the University of Cumbria.

As always, we would like to hear your views and ideas on our services. Please feel free to contact us through Zarina McCulloch, our Clinic Manager, at manager@medicalprime.co.uk

My warmest wishes for keeping well, safe and positive.
