Franky’s Story

I was recommended to Dr Kalentzi’s perimenopause services by a colleague after struggling with physical symptoms from the age of 45.

I went to see my GP who took blood tests and told me that because I was continuing to have a regular menstrual cycle I was not a candidate for any treatment. Furthermore, I was told that all my tests were within normal ranges and I was given a clean bill of health.

But I felt far from OK. The joint aches, insomnia, abdominal weight gain & lack of libido were crushing. I have a happy life, a good relationship, I like my career. I’m conscious about lifestyle factors, I eat well & exercise but nothing I did seemed to help me manage my symptoms.

When I saw Dr Kalentzi I was relieved. She took my symptoms seriously; she explained that they were a grouping of symptoms due to falling hormones irrespective of my normal range blood test.

Dr. Kalentzi comforted me by way of medical evidence that actually proved there was good reason I was experiencing these symptoms and unlike most of the medical model delivery, there is not a one size fits all when it comes to treatment options for women in perimenopause.

I have remained under Dr Kalentzi’s care ever since. I am treated with expert advice & tailored medical treatment for me as an individual. I am prescribed microdosing of HRT & it has made all the difference to my quality of life.

I cannot recommend Dr Kalentzi’s services enough. She has helped me immensely to manage my symptoms and get me back to enjoying my life.

Having being in receipt of Dr Kalentzi’s care, it has also impacted my own clinical practice.

I am a mental health nurse & now when I assess women presenting with mental health concerns in their 40’s, having no prior history of mental health issues, I ask about their hormonal health.

I regularly add perimenopausal screening tools into my mental health assessments. I signpost many female clients back to their GP in order to discuss the potential hormonal impact on the quality of their lives.

I know that some of the signposted clients will get a similar response to what I received but I hope that by raising awareness that these symptoms are real and forearming them about GP’s with special interest in women’s health, we can help a lot more women manage symptoms and normalise this conversation.
